So, as weve discovered this baby has the same mind set as Noah did: being late! Fashionably late I hope, in that it’s nice to mummy!

The due date had been and gone but it was an eventful night none the less… It appears that the events are normal and that it doesn’t mean labour is any closer than if it hadn’t of happened. I will divulge the events and the advice from my lovely friend Oriole, who has recently had her first bubba and is a midwife from the hospital where I am due to be visiting very soon…

So it was about 10pm, after suffering stomach cramps and back cramps for 48 hours, on and off, I decided it was time to have a bath and just try to relax. Getting into bed and watching a great Harrison Ford movie, I started to feel really nauseous. It was horribly followed by hot and cold sweats and the feeling that I needed the toilet. It was not nice, I felt like I had a really bad illness and I couldn’t get comfortable I couldn’t work out if I was poorly or if this was the start of something. Around midnight I tried my best to fall asleep, as i was tired and after a little while I did drift off.

Somewhere mid morning, around 2am, I awoke with what can only be described as a contraction, not as intense as I remember them with Noah, I could breathe my way through it and kind of pant, I felt my body tighten up to control the pain, which is exactly what I did with Noah too. This went on for about an hour, I was sure it was the real pains and not just cramps, I didn’t feel the need to wake Dean up as I was dealing with it well at this point, so I just thought to myself, maybe I can do what they say “try and get some rest and sleep through the mild ones”. I did!

I woke up at 6am, with Dean, like any normal day and nothing!! It was like the episode the night before hadn’t even occurred.

I spoke to Oriole, midwife turned mum in the past month, and she advised me that it wouldn’t have been all for nothing! The sickness is my bodies way of preparing for labour and the contractions may have been my body trying to move baby into the best position, back to belly button, ready for labour. She did say she wouldn’t surprised if I was a little dilated because of this too, which I suppose is something. But she also advised that this might happen for days and it’s no real indication that we are any closer to meeting our newborn baby anytime soon.

Fingers crossed it was all good signs… Watch this space I guess!

Fingers crossed little bubba will be making an appearance pretty soon for you. Maybe take a long walk today to help ease baby out, I never received sort of pain like that, Joseph was posterior so the pain came in labour and Oliver I felt imense pressure down below for about a week.
    God luck x

I did that with Chloe for 3 days before she was born! I would have contractions during the day then they would stop at 8.30pm and start again the next morning!! But by the time my waters went on the 3rd day if it I was 4cms!! Fingers crossed it kicks off soon x

Oh my goodness you described the start of labour perfectly. You should go into advising new mums of what to expect. I could only describe it all as taking an overdose of laxatives with the hot and cold sweats and your body wanting to feel empty and prepared. I hope little one arrives soon for you hun then I can bring you tea and biscuits and have a cuddle with bubba šŸ˜‰ Good luck thinking of you xx

Exactly what I had with my second too! Our bodiesw are amazing, especially when they’ve ‘learnt’ from the first time. Mine went on for quite a few days on and off though, best part of two weeks I recall. Good luck, bub will be here soon. Looking forward to hearing all about it, Lx
