Wedding anniversaries come around just once a year and whether your marking your first, tenth or twentieth anniversary, you and your spouse deserve a real celebration. Of course the most important thing to remember is that you and your spouse get to spend quality time together, away from the day-to-day pressures and responsibilities of life. You can use the time to convey exactly how much you mean to each other and there’s nothing wrong with pushing the boat out with some exciting plans. If you and your spouse deserve a little something extra for your upcoming anniversary, here are 4 ideas to spark your imagination.

Recreate your first date

Why not travel back in time and recreate your first date or when you first met? It doesn’t need to be fancy – it doesn’t matter where it was or what you were wearing as long as it brings back memories from that important day in your shared history. The first time round you could only talk about your present and the future, but now you have your wonderful memories together which you can spend hours reliving. Hire a babysitter and head straight back to your youth.

Book a romantic photoshoot

Find a professional photographer who you like and feel comfortable with and take a few hours to capture some stunning images of the two of you. Dress up in your best, be relaxed or even try some sultry boudoir if that sounds fun for the two of you. You’ll end up with a photo or even an album of images to treasure for years to come. Alternatively, you could include the family and friends who were a part of your wedding party to recreate the photos of the day.

Go on a second honeymoon

If you want to go the extra mile (or several hundred) this year, consider taking a second honeymoon somewhere gorgeous. You could return to the place you went the first time around, take a romantic weekend in a cosy cottage in the countryside or you could head out to somewhere more exotic. You can make the trip as energetic or as relaxing as you want and can tailor it to suit your budget. To make it even more luxurious you could even look into the prices of private jet hire and make your spouse feel like a real celebrity. Tell the hotel that you’re celebrating your anniversary and you may well end up with extra treats waiting for you.

Renew your vows with a ceremony & celebration

Depending on how long ago your wedding took place you might want to go even further in your celebrations and do the whole thing again by renewing your vows. You could do it in the same place or pick somewhere new and possibly turn it in to a bigger event than the original. Whether you invite your children, the whole family, or keep it private, renewing your vows is the perfect way to reaffirm your love and commitment to one another.
