For all the busy mum’s and families out there it can get really challenging to find quality time while still managing all the other aspects and obligations of life. A great way to get in some family bonding time is to work on some small weekend projects with your spouse and kids and do a bit of DIY. There are of course, certain projects that are more geared to your pint size helpers but you may be surprised at how many small updates you can choose from to work on all together as a family. It is always recommended to find a local electrician or contractor for major home projects but for these mini projects you can round up your own troops for some family weekend fun.

  • Fix Up Your Hallway-this project is super simple to do and shouldn’t take much time at all. Some quick fixes for your hallway can change up the feel of your entranceway and give it a much more inviting look and feel. You can add a mirror above you side table to give the foyer a bit of light and a larger appearance. You can add fresh cut flowers in a beautiful vase, or even some greenery in the form of houseplants to give it more color and life. The kids can assist you here by picking out the flowers, or helping you arrange your plants in an orderly fashion.

  • Paint One Wallthis is a home update that can add a totally different vibe to any room in the house. If you are working with primarily all white or neutral walls, adding a pop of color will brighten up any room and serve as a focal point of the room. You can even add crown molding to a painted wall to elevate the whole atmosphere. Adding a border, or a layer of wallpaper are also super easy ways to change the look of a room without having to spend money on professional installation or painting services. Just be sure to take the necessary precautions so that the kids stay safe while they are handling the paint and be prepared for some mistakes and messes. The good news is that you can always paint over any major issues and your kids will love feeling like they are contributing to a major home improvement project.

  1. Do Some Covering Up-if you are like most parents with growing kids in the home you are bound to have some walls that may be scuffed up, or worse still, have visible holes or dents in them. If you don’t have the time to spend fixing up the holes or dents in your walls the next best thing to do is to cover them up. Put together some family picture collages, frame them and create a gallery wall. You can use this idea to cover up any areas of your walls that aren’t looking their best. Your kids can help by picking out the pictures while you work on the framing and hanging aspect of the job.

Have a Great Weekend!
