When you first discover you’re pregnant, it can be a big adjustment. I am not pregnant by the way, just reflecting on when I was and thought about these fab tips. You’re now not only looking after yourself but another too. It’s an exciting time, with a lot to look forward to, but there are also some changes you might not be so happy about. With a long list of things you can’t do during pregnancy, it’s easy to feel frustrated. So instead of focusing on the things you can’t do, why not look at some of the things you can do instead?

Help yourself enjoy pregnancy by planning some exciting things – your ‘me’ time will become very limited once the baby arrives! Create some amazing memories while you’re expecting with this list of ten fun things to do during your pregnancy.

1. Plan a fun pregnancy announcement

Once you’ve found out you’re expecting; it’s natural to want to shout it to the world. Thanks to social media, there are all kinds of fun ways you can announce you’re expecting. From fun photoshoots with your partner to getting siblings/pets involved, you can find some cool and creative ways to share your good news with loved ones. This will also make the perfect first entry to your baby’s scrapbook or memory box!

2. Book some weekends away

Having a baby will turn your life upside down, in lots of wonderful ways. But adjusting to life with a newborn could mean that weekend breaks and holidays are off the agenda for a little while. Why not make the most of this time to enjoy some weekends away? Whether you choose to head off with the girls or your partner, you can enjoy exploring new places or simply take the time to relax.

3. Take a cooking class

Taking a class can be a fun way of learning a new skill, and help you meet some new people too. A cooking class is perfect as you’ll be able to learn some amazing new cooking skills for yourself and to feed your family in the future. It could also be a good way to learn some fantastic batch-cook recipes that you’ll be able to freeze ready for the days post-baby when you don’t have the time or energy to cook!

If you don’t want to commit to a course of classes, you can always teach yourself! Between YouTube and online recipes, you’ll find plenty of great tips for enhancing your cooking skills that will have you whipping up tasty treats in no time!

4. Go on a shopping spree

There is a lot of shopping to be done when you’re expecting. Not only will you need some comfy maternity clothes, but you’ll need to buy some things for the baby too! A shopping spree could be just what you need when you’re experiencing some pregnancy blues – an excellent excuse to head out, go for lunch, and treat yourself too.

There are a lot of things to buy in the run-up to having a baby, which can feel overwhelming. Having a list of newborn essentials to hand can be a good way to get yourself organized, making sure you have everything you need ready for when the baby comes. Set yourself a budget so that you don’t overspend and make sure you take someone with you to carry the bags!

5. Pamper yourself

It’s important to get plenty of rest while you’re pregnant, something you’ll be grateful for when the baby comes! A couple of spa days with a pregnancy massage can help you relieve some stress and will help you feel energized, the perfect excuse for some time to yourself. Your body will be going through a lot of change at this time, which can impact your confidence, so a fresh manicure and hairdo could be just what you need to help you feel more like yourself again.

There will be plenty of days during your pregnancy where you won’t want to leave your house, so an at-home pamper-kit could be a must-have to reach for when you want a bit of TLC. Stock up on some face masks and aromatherapy candles and create your own at-home spa routine to enjoy some quiet time to yourself.

6. Throw a gender reveal party

If you’re planning on finding out the gender of your baby, then you could have an excellent excuse for a party! As a fun way to get your friends and family together before your baby arrives, you could explore some creative gender reveal ideas to help you mark the occasion in style. As a great way to mark a key milestone in your pregnancy journey, you can go big or small with how you choose to share your news.

7. Find ways to enjoy keeping fit

While you might not be up to running a marathon right now or taking part in a Crossfit tournament, it’s still important to stay fit and healthy during your pregnancy. If you’re used to regular exercise, talk to your doctor about how you can take this forward to help you keep up your fitness. Meanwhile, there are some excellent pregnancy-friendly fitness classes and activities you can take part in to help you keep moving throughout your pregnancy. If you don’t have many mom friends or you’d like to meet some new people, this can be a great way to find some fellow expectant mothers to share the trials and tribulations of pregnancy with.

Don’t forget there are plenty of ways you can stay fit at home too, helping you take care of your mind, body and soul even when you can’t always leave the house.

8. Have a pregnancy photoshoot

A pregnancy photoshoot can be a lovely way to celebrate your pregnancy, while also having something to look back on in years to come. You don’t have to go all Demi Moore with it either, there are plenty of pregnancy photo ideas to give you some inspiration. You don’t even need to hire a photographer if you don’t want to – rope in your partner or friend if it will help you feel more at ease! 9. Enjoy some time with your girlfriends

Saturday nights out are about to change, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make the most of some time with your girlfriends before the baby comes! Plan some fun nights in or even some nights out with some good food and mocktails to help you let your hair down for a while before your due date. While you’ll still be able to enjoy time with your friends after the baby is born, it will be nice to head out without worrying about nap schedules or finding a sitter.

10. Get creative

If you’re a creative type, then why not try some cute pregnancy craft projects to keep you busy? You can have fun making different items for the baby’s nursery, making clothes and even upcycling and recycling old furniture and clothes to give them a new lease of life for your baby.

With so many different ideas on Pinterest and other websites, you’ll be sure to find some excellent DIY and craft projects to try out.

Your pregnancy is a special and unique time, and you’ll want to make the most of it before the baby comes and your focus changes. From enjoying more time to yourself to doing things to get ready for the baby, there are a lot of ways to keep busy and active during your pregnancy, and have a lot of fun too!
