We took a stroll around the zoo and the Zufari area gathering cute photos along the way: the zoo is spread out in sections with the rides and attractions in the middle of the park. Unfortunately the monkeys were not on show today as they are doing a spot of work but we got to see the Trail of the Kings, we saw 2 lions and 2 tigers: the little ones were amazed as they walked right past the window.

On the way out of the Trail of the Kings we found a little, very spiky, friend who came to say hello and Noah was so amazed at the Hedgehog that he talked about him all the way home. Isla couldn’t quite make it all out but she looked just as fascinated. Out of all the animals we saw, the exotic and the very large, they loved the little hedgehog.

Once we said goodbye to Mr Hedgehog we took a walk through the park to the new attraction for 2013 ZUFARI: Ride into Africa. Noah and Isla are too small to go on it, but it does look absolutely amazing (I cannot wait until they are over 1 metre), despite the height restrictions though we took a stroll to the village where the Zufari ride is and saw lots of animals, heard lots of fantastic music and saw different African statues and faces – it was lots of fun.DSC_5030

Noah & Isla’s favourite part of the day was watching the meerkats have their dinner, Noah was giggling and Isla got a kiss with one little meerkat. It was hilarious watching them flip the bottle around to get at the crickets:

Noah decided he wanted to go on one ride in between animal watching, we walked past one of the many toddler rides and Noah’s face just lit up, so we had to stop and he loved it. “It went round and round and round, really fast Mummy”.

Noah and Isla were stopped in their path when the Octonauts theme tune came on as we entered the Sealife centre, it was great to see their tiny, captivated faces. We walked through and found lots of different shaped fish; long ones, spiky ones, flat ones and of course, Nemo & Dori.

It was a great day, the kids enjoyed themselves and my Uncle and I are wiped out! There is so much to do, that I think next time we will stay at the hotel and spread rides and animals over the 2 days – we didn’t make it to the soft play today so we need to go there next time too. Hopefully the monkeys will be out too, we love the monkeys!
