Yes, after a year of failing to keep up with the fitness and not managing to get to the gym at the same time every week, I have decided to give this year a kick start and try the 30DayShred that I have heard so much about. We have our first family cruise this year with Carnival Cruise Line and I need to be bikini ready. I want to celebrate in style.

The 30DayShred

I ordered the DVD, Jillian Micheal 30 Day Shred from Amazon, because I have Amazon Prime it came the next day and therefore I was able to get on with the shred straight away. I started Day 1 yesterday. I was aching so much and that was just after one session, which can only mean that I am on the right path. No pain, no gain.

The DVD is split into three sessions of 20 minutes, Level 1 -3. I am starting with level 1, which I still found hard work and I will be working up to level 3 over the 30 days. That’s my plan anyway. I need to get some heavier hand weights too as my little 1’s will soon be too light for me.

I enjoyed the session as it was 20 minutes of exercises, broken into different things and so it wasn’t boring. Cardio and then strenghtening for example – it made it a lot more interesting. I also liked the fact that you had the hard versions and the easier versions, incase you need to work up to optimum work out positions. I cannot do push ups, so being able to use your knees instead was a huge bonus.

I know this DVD has been around for a long time now, but I really feel like I need to do this to push start the rest of the year and work my way to my cruise body for August. Right now, I would not even go out in a swimming costume, let alone a bikini. My thighs feel huge and my stomach looks like it is 4 months pregnant – and no I am not!

I am looking forward to doing Day 2 this evening and monitoring my weight and shape. Fingers crossed this 30 day plan works and sheds off the 20lbs ready for toning up afterwards. So here’s to the 30DayShred and a more confident me…
