Your family home is a place of love and light. Not only will it allow for a beautiful childhood, but it will inform the memories your children craft during this time. They’ll cherish this for the rest of their life, so it could be considered quite important to get this right. Obviously, trying to forcefully inject memories can be unnatural and quite strange, so instead simply keeping your home as wonderful and beautiful as possible can help them understand they are loved, and allow for better personal development as they grow into adults.

If you are lucky enough to live in a house with a garage – then give it the respect it deserves! Our garage is always a dumping ground for anything and everything. The garage can often be the neglected room of a house. A place where clutter builds up and cobwebs take over. With that said, a well-organised garage can be a safe haven for all of your beloved tools, outdoor gear and a car, maybe even two.
Your young child is no longer small, and you decide that it is time to redecorate the room so that it is age-appropriate; however, makeovers can be expensive. From wall hangings to throw rugs to furniture, one can spend an exorbitant amount of money making over a child’s room. However, one need not spend a fortune to turn a small child’s bedroom into one that can grow to fit the needs of older children and teenagers.
I like to set myself tasks, sometimes they are tiny things and sometimes very large tasks. The Summer Holidays are great as there is no rushing around on the school runs. This usually means I can get more done, as I am around the home a bit more than term time. With that in mind, I have a mini bucket list of things to do in the Summer Holidays around our family home. Some of these tasks would be a fun thing to do with the kiddies too.
I have always been a private tenant, never owned my own house or had a mortgage. The thought of it is quite scary, but something is telling me it’s our time to get our very own house. Our own family home. Something that we can decorate, renovate and put our own little stamp on. Everyone around me is either on their second home, or renovating their properties and the results are amazing. It fills me with excitement that hopefully one day we will be doing that too.
