How beautiful is it to receive a handmade gift? Something that someone has spent hours making. When it comes to handmade gifts from the children, it’s even better. They have such creative minds, the sky is their limit. Handmade gifts are the perfect idea for a Mother’s Day present and Handmade at Amazon have made it really easy.
The best thing about kids is they’re all so different. It is watching them grow and blossom, their personalities shining through more and more with each passing day. So kids are arty, others are more into science. Some enjoy reading, others would rather make home movies. Some can’t get enough of the outdoors, and some are indoor-obsessed. This last point is not necessarily a bad thing. They may just prefer to play the role of sofa-loving director in their sibling’s theatre production.
I love stationery. In fact, I feel I may have an unhealthy obsession with it. I have pens just because I liked the look of the pen. Admittedly it isn’t an expensive obsession, which is a bonus! National stationery week (my favourite kind of week) is a great week to celebrate my love for pens and all things stationery. Pen Heaven have some fabulous products that are just perfect for a special gift for someone (or to top up your stationery collection).
You might think I am crazy but I love the fact that this oak tree shaped, black, piece of vinyl from Ink Mill Vinyl can be taken anywhere and it is an instant blackboard. There should be one in every house as far as I am concerned. We write messages on it for each other, draw pictures when we are feeling creative and Mummy likes to write the menu on it too. Just for fun!
If your daughter is anything like little Isla, then a quiet spot in the house somewhere is the perfect place to sit and ponder. She creates these places and sits with her dolls reading stories or bushing their hair. It is really cute. She often sits and hides away being creative too, I want her to feel inspired to do this. Creating a little area for your child is a great way of giving them the okay to get busy with their imaginations.
In one of my “mindfulness” moments I asked my Uncle if he could share a poem on my blog, he is very creative and I am glad I have someone who I can share creativity with. I have been trying to find more time for me lately, doing the things I love and reading some of my Uncle’s poems really inspires me to start writing again. I downloaded “Headspace” from the App Store this week and I am going to try and start doing a bit of meditation, clear my head before the busy life. Take 10 minutes to think about nothing at all and see what magic sparks from the blank canvas. And what better way to kick off this creative train of thought than with a thought provoking and inspiring poem…
I have been sent a fabulous Cricut Explore Air machine and I can honestly say I do not know what I would have done without it. I have been busy making gift tags, cards and even T-shirts for the children. It’s so easy to use and set up, you could spend hours making different items for yourself or for other people.
Raising a child to match the world expectations always seems like a simple task. In most cases though, parents don’t know what to include as ingredients in their healthy parenting and even though it may not be visible seeing a kid develop physically as well as intellectually makes the happiest parent. It is the early stages of child development that matters most, it takes the memory of a child, an empty space and it transforms it in the extraordinary.
As many of you know, we love crafting and messy play and we had the opportunity to do both when Baker Ross sent us some of their fun Easter crafts to try out. I love the Easter goodies, eggs and cute bunnies and chicks, it’s great seeing the children be so creative with the goodies too.
I get the itch to redecorate, move the furniture around and de-clutter quite frequently. I would say at least once every few months I will focus on something to make it look “better”. Now we are moving in to Spring, I am getting the urge to create a clean living space. I want something that I can relax in, that isn’t full of toys and dog chews. Something that can be my little space. Maybe something with a little sparkle, like the Pirce Artemide collection from LampCommerce.
