Today is National Siblings Day, a time to celebrate those siblings you love. Or bicker with constantly if you are my two! It’s nice to acknowledge your siblings I think. As we have all got older, with busier and fuller lives, it’s hard to stay in touch. You grow up in each others pockets, living in the same house, doing everything together. I remember the day I went to uni. I felt completely lost. There is 10 years between me and my sister, so she was 8 when I went to university and I am pretty sure she wouldn’t have known what was going on. My little ones are 18 months apart, so I can imagine they will very much be a part of each others lives growing up. It’s days like today that make me feel grateful for family.
Isla loves unicorns, so when we were sent My Unicorn Garden she yelped with excitement. I thought it was only right to share this fabulous toy review on National Unicorn Day! So the idea of this grow & play toy is that you put all the pieces together and watch the grass grow. All you need is soil. Isla absolutely loved it.
Isla loves doing peoples hair, she spends hours brushing her hair and trying to put it in ponytails or plaits. That’s where Shnooks come in really handy, she can style their hair in many different ways. We love all the hand bands and combs that come with each Shnook. Not only that, but they smell delicious!
The toys in this house are everywhere. It’s the smallest ones that cause me the most problems though: Lego! We’ve all seen that doodle online where the Mum is stepping on Lego all the time. That’s our house. Noah is a typical boy, loves his Lego and Cars. Isla loves her dolls and soft toys. Keeping them all tidy is hard work, so I like to make life easy by having the right storage.
You guessed it, L.O.L Surprise! have kicked off the year with series 3: Confetti Pop. There are 9 new dolls to collect in a fabulous new designed ball, with a popping surprise element to it. It’s great fun, I love watching Isla’s face as she unravels the layers of these sell out toys.
Skateboarding is more than just a sport. It’s a cultural phenomenon that has influenced language, music, arts and fashion. Aside from competitive events, the sport has no rules, and this somehow has created a rebellious spirit within the skateboarding culture which has been wholeheartedly embraced by millions of youths from around the world. While UK can’t boast a large population of skateboarders yet, the interest in the sport is growing, particularly among children and young teens. Many parents worry about their child when they declare their love for skateboarding, due to the injuries associated with the sport and even sometimes with the rebellious culture that surrounds it, but fear not, here is a quick guide to get you ready if your child asks for a skateboard.
Isla and Noah were sent this post office playset from Chad Valley, it is so much fun. They really get into their roles as post office clerk and customer. A really great idea for a creative child. It is full of so many bits there is endless amounts of fun, ideas and scenarios with this playset. It also packs up into a handy size, great for travelling around with the children (or just tidying up).
What better way to celebrate National Chocolate Cake Day (27th January) than to bake our very own chocolate cake. Inspired by Isla’s love of Num Noms. We received a hamper of goodies to decorate our cakes and a Series 4 deluxe pack of Num Noms. Isla was very, very excited. Below is Isla’s creation (one vegetarian and one not):
I find it hard to get out shopping, so I frequently miss the trends or what is hot in the shops. I like to find out what is popular, or too cool for school! So I thought I would put together this helpful list of great toys for children this Christmas. They are not expensive and a variety of toys for primary school ages. So here is the 2017 toy gift guide:
If there is one board game to get this Christmas, it’s Disney’s “Guess the film”. We are huge Disney fans, so it is perfect for us. This is THE game for a Disney fan, whether you grab it to play when the family are together on Christmas Day or buy it for someone. I think Jumbo Games have done a fabulous job with this game, it’s lots of fun.
